Salsa Conmigo are happy to support Jeremiah’s Journey who are a self-funded, registered charity that operates in Plymouth and the surrounding areas. The charity offers psychological and emotional support to children who have experienced, or are anticipating, the death of someone special.
They deliver a short-term group programme to bereaved children, young people and their families to promote healthy grieving and happy memories. The sessions use therapeutic creative activities to enable the children to express feelings of grief, share good and bad memories, and to explore ways of coping. At the end of each programme they take all the families for a day out to an adventure park. They also keep in touch with those who have been through the programmes with a Christmas party and a special remembrance picnic in the summer.
The service has been running for fourteen years now, in which time Jeremiah’s Journey has seen an increased number of families requesting support and information. In the last year they have seen over 199 bereaved children and their families.
